This is one of my new paintings using plaster. It is hard to see any difference in the image, but it is quite different to work on than acrylic grounds like modeling paste. I really enjoy carving it.
Just curious as I was thinking of using plaster myself on some works as an alternative to modeling paste...do you think it will endure on the canvas or flake off? Do you find it just as easy to work with? It is certainly less expensive! haha. Really enjoy your blog. Thanks!
I work primarily with acrylic on canvas, board or watercolor paper. My style is loose and very colorful. I consider myself an experimental painter and often incorporate elements such as ink, graphite, paper, beads, clay and whatever else I happen across. Whether I am painting a landscape, still life or abstract, the subject is simply a vehicle for the color and stroke. I work from my imagination and go wherever the painting takes me,working on several paintings simultaneously. I call my work Joyful Art because creating it brings me such joy.
